Master of Arts in Education

As the teacher shortage in the United States continues, the demand for qualified educators is projected to grow significantly in the coming years. This Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) degree with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction is designed to equip teachers with advanced pedagogical skills necessary for leading high-performing classrooms.
This comprehensive program integrates cutting-edge theories in organizational management, innovative instructional models, motivational strategies, and global and cultural awareness. It empowers educators to provide exceptional education in diverse classroom settings.
This program is operated out of Ottawa University’s campus in Overland Park, Kansas.
WORKING IN THE UNITED STATES
A critical aspect of this program is its hands-on approach, requiring students to hold a teaching position during their studies. Participants will work full-time in a Kansas school, gaining invaluable experience while fulfilling degree requirements. In return, students receive full-time compensation, with average annual salaries for STEM teachers ranging from US$42,000 to US$47,000, plus additional benefits in some school districts.
To facilitate this work, students are authorized for Curricular Practical Training (CPT), which allows temporary employment directly related to their field of study. As an integral part of the MAEd program, students are required to maintain CPT eligibility throughout their studies. Credits for CPT are awarded upon the successful completion of the Executive Practicum course.
What is CPT?
Curricular Practical Training is a form of off-campus employment authorization for F-1 visa holders. It enables students to participate in internships, co-ops, field placements, or practicum experiences that are integral to their academic curriculum. CPT aligns with the student’s major field of study, as listed on their I-20 form.
